Austin Pet-Friendly Patios: Which Restaurants Offer Special Treats?

As a devoted dog mom who refuses to leave my furry companion at home, I’ve eaten on practically every pet-friendly patio in Austin. While many restaurants tolerate dogs, these establishments go above and beyond with special menus, treats, and amenities specifically for your four-legged dining companions.

North Austin Pet-Friendly Favorites

Yard Bar (6700 Burnet Road) combines a fully-fenced dog park with a restaurant and bar. The $9 daily entry fee (discounted monthly memberships available) grants access to the off-leash area while you enjoy food and drinks. Their “Bark Menu” includes puppy ice cream ($5), beef “pupsicles” ($6), and peanut butter biscuits ($4). Water stations and shade structures throughout the park keep dogs comfortable in all seasons.

The Domain’s North Italia (11506 Century Oaks Terrace #124) offers one of the most luxurious dog-friendly dining experiences. Their spacious patio includes designated dog hooks at several tables, complimentary water bowls, and free house-made bacon treats that my pup considers worth the trip alone. While they don’t have a specific dog menu, the attentive staff consistently acknowledges four-legged guests.

Central Austin Dog-Friendly Dining

Moontower Saloon (10212 Manchaca Road) features an enormous outdoor space with multiple patios where dogs roam freely. Staff provide water bowls without asking and offer free basic dog biscuits. The weekend “Yappy Hour” from 2-4pm includes discounted frozen “puppy daiquiris” ($3) made with beef broth and peanut butter. Their regular events include monthly dog adoption showcases and costume contests.

Cosmic Coffee + Beer Garden (121 Pickle Road) stands out for its sustainable pond-side patio where dogs are warmly welcomed. The staff stocks premium dog treats ($2-4) and offers complimentary water stations throughout the seating area. The spacious layout means your dog won’t feel cramped, and the natural landscape provides interesting sniffing opportunities.

East Austin Canine Culinary Experiences

Hank’s (5811 Berkman Drive) takes pet-friendly dining seriously with their dedicated “Bark Menu” featuring beef and rice bowls ($6), peanut butter banana pupsicles ($4), and bacon treats ($3). Their expansive patio includes specific dog-friendly tables with shade and tie-ups. Weekend “Yappy Hours” feature special pricing on dog menu items.

The Cavalier (2400 Webberville Road) welcomes dogs on their covered patio with custom-built dog beds at select tables (first come, first served). Their pet menu includes house-made jerky strips ($5) and frozen bone broth treats ($4) that my picky eater devours enthusiastically. Water bowls are provided automatically when servers notice your dog.

South Austin Dog Dining Destinations

Bouldin Acres (2027 S. Lamar Blvd) features a massive outdoor area where leashed dogs are welcome throughout. They offer complimentary locally-made dog biscuits and maintain several water stations around the property. While dogs aren’t allowed in their pickleball courts, the patio seating surrounds the courts, allowing you to play while your pup relaxes nearby.

Yard Bar South (440 E. St. Elmo Road) – Recently opened in 2024, this second location of the popular north Austin establishment brings the same dog park/restaurant concept to south Austin residents. The membership reciprocates with their north location, and they’ve added a splashing pool feature for hot summer days.

Remember that even at these dog-friendly establishments, keeping your pet leashed (except in designated off-leash areas), bringing bags for waste, and supervising behavior ensures these spaces remain accessible to the pet community. Always call ahead during extreme weather as some outdoor-only establishments may close patios during heavy rain or freezing temperatures.
